Home Sweet Home

Just a quickie as can't sit up for long! I just wanted to thank you all for your lovely messages and to let you know that I am home safe and sound from my mini break in Worthing. I believe that the operation went well, although it doesn't feel like it at the moment! I'll be back to blog land soon........I hope! Thanks again from a very wonky Mrs Wonka.....

So long, farewell, Auf wiedersehen, goodbye..........

Well I just wanted to let you all know that I will be out of blog land for a while. Tomorrow I am going on holiday to Worthing hospital (If I say it like that it makes me feel better and makes it feel like a fun thing to do instead of a horrid one!) I'm not sure exactly what the operation will entail as they are going to go in and see what they find.......... (probably 6 wispa bars and a Cadburys cream egg!) so I'm not sure how long I will be staying in for and how long I will be out of action for! So I thought I had better let my blog buddies know, and ask you all not to forget me............

I really do appreciate it when people take the time to pass on an award to me or leave a comment and I apologise if I have been a little slack in my comment posting the last week or so. I would like to pass them on to anyone who happens to stumble accross this post.

Stampin Up........ Bright & Bold

I managed to make this card yesterday using the new Stampin Up "Polka Dot Punches" from there current "Sale-A-Bration" promotion. I used to associate SU with more muted colours but I'm in heaven after discovering the "Bright" range!
I had an SU party last night and was possibly the worst host in the world!!! LOL In fact they all sat in the conservatory whilst I lounged on the sofa in the other room. I was having a very bad day yesterday with my medical condition but really didn't want to let everyone down by canceling so it was a bit of a free for all........everyone helped themselves to drinks and Teresa's lovely cakes, it was a great reminder of how much I lurve my crafty Buddy's! Even though "one" (who shall not be named due to legal reasons LOL) wiped a teaspoon on one of my "show" tea towels!!!!

Watch Out!!!! There's a ribbon thief about........

A robbery took place today in my conservatory!!! I was sitting there minding my own business when a black and white monster appeared from no where!
mmmmmm I spy ribbon, I won't be allowed it so I'll have to try and sneek some........
Ohhhhh I think I could just reach it with my paw....
Oh sod it.....I'll go straight for the munch!
Naughty Arthur......he is a well known ribbon thief in crafting circles! So watch out when Arthurs about!!!!
Olive is a little more lady like she just likes to sit and watch with the occasional nibble of a passing piece of paper!

Inspirational Card Sketch......Baby Girl Card

One of my best friends had a beautiful baby girl last week I haven't been able to see and have a cuddle yet because of my lurg and general health but I can't wait to meet her! The card was made following a sketch ( I have twisted it a bit) from the new Inspirational Card Sketch blog . The image is "Baby Hammock" by Penny Black and the papers are by Doodlebug . The greeting is from an OLD Lisa Bearnson card making kit and the ribbon is from my stash. Finally I have added a little glitter on the image to give it a bit of bling! I'm not quite sure if I like it........I did start of with pastel colours but the bright colours took over.....I just love my brights!!!!!

For A Special Brother...Sketch Saturday Challenge

Enough of all that Marmite talk, I have a card to show today. I'll report back to you all later on in the week with my final LOVE IT or HATE IT results. My card is using this sketch from Sketch Saturday Challenge if you haven't visited them before then pop over it is a fabby challenge blog! I have used the sketch to make a card for my brothers birthday, I had the same age old card makers dilemma.........what to do for a mans card!!!! I am quite pleased with the results and he was over the moon so that's all that counts really! The image is Penny Black and the papers are from my stash......I couldn't see a name on them sorry! They are patterned one side and plain on the other. The buttons are Doodlebug and I have just used knotted string to make it look as though they are sewn onto the card. I have coloured the image with watercolour pencils and I have highlighted the balloon with some DB glitter. The "Happy Birthday@ is a rub on by Pebbles Inc, the "to a special" is an old Scrapbook House rub on and the "Brother" is made using Making Memories black Heidi alphabet rub ons. FOR SALE I have a Printing Press Cricut cartridge that I no longer need I am looking for £25 I will post recorded delivery free of charge in the UK. Paypal preferred, although cheques accepted. I hope you don't mind me popping this on here.

My mate Marmite...................

I totally forgot about my overseas blogging buddies who are unfortunate enough not to have Marmite so I thought I would add this description, From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia , and a pic.
"Marmite is the name given to two similar food spreads, a British version produced in the UK and South Africa and the other in New Zealand. Marmite is made from yeast extract, a by-product of beer brewing, and is suitable for vegetarians and vegans. The British version of the product is a sticky, dark brown paste with a distinctive, powerful flavour, which is extremely salty and savoury with umami qualities, somewhat comparable to soy sauce. This distinctive taste is reflected in the British company's marketing slogan: "Love it or hate it." It is similar to the Australian Vegemite and Swiss Cenovis. The image on the front of the British jar shows a "marmite", a French term for a large, covered earthenware or metal cooking pot"
What you can do with Marmite?
The most common use is as a spread on toast or in sandwiches. It is also delicious spread on hot buttered crumpets or ryvita crackers.A lot of people have it on buttered toast. .A teaspoon of Marmite can also be added to soups, casseroles, and almost any savory food for a wonderful, rich flavoring. You can also have a spoon full in hot water to make a super meaty drink!
The Marmite love it or hate it war continues.....it's looking pretty close!!!!!

Did you know I love you more than Marmite?

You will be pleased to know (or not I suppose) that I am still alive!!! This flu bug has really done me in! I'm still far from right....but I'm getting there!
Well that time of year has come to make Mr Wonka his valentines card...... and I do indeed love him more than Marmite and by golly I luuuurrrrrrvvvvvvveeee Marmite so that is a GIANT compliment to Mr W!
Please don't think that I'm super organised I'm NOT! ........I am however due to be going into hospital soon and I want to get everything sorted before I go as I'm not sure when I'm going to be going in (2 ops cancelled in last 6 weeks!!!)
I have used a sketch by Tiets over on the new "The Sugar Bowl" challenge blog. this is their first challenge........go check it out it is fandabbiedozie! I have used my other new Sugar Nellie stamp which I love love love!!! and some Basic Grey paper. I have added chipboard elements from my stash and have decoupaged the flower in her hair. Finally the greeting is done with mini Doodlebug rub ons.
I hope you like it, ohhhhhhh I know lets have a little Marmite survey.......If you are leaving a message (which I hugely appreciate by the way) then put ether "LOVE IT" or "HATE IT" at the end of your message and we can see if Marmite wins the day!!!!!

Finally................a card!!!!

Well I have been feeling a little better today with longer gaps between coughing so thought I would have a little play with my new stamp! This card is for the Basic Grey Challenge and Papertake Weekly Challenge. Basic grey was to use this sketch for inspiration: and the PTW challenge was called "seeing spots" and was to use circles or dots or spots or dots on spots or circles in dots......you get the gist! The Basic Grey backing paper is called Phoam from the Phresh & Phunky range and the dotty paper is by Heidi Grace. The image is Sugar Nellie "Talking to the birds". This is my first Sugar Nellie stamp as I have to admit I haven't been too keen on them in the past but I do love the new Leanne Ellis designs and can't wait for more to come! The ribbon is from my stash as are the mini gold gems. The flower was a lovely pastel pink but I inked it brown to coordinate with the backing card.

I hope you like this as it is a little different from my normal cards, maybe all this nose blowing has cleared the brain and paved the way for some new inspiration!?!?!?!?

I'm once, twice 3 times a..........lady

Actually I am no lady at all but am the proud owner of 3 blog awards today and couldn't think of a post title! Firstly I must apologise for my absence! I finally came down with the awful cold and flu bug on New Years Eve and have been in bed pretty much ever since! I have another medical condition and this has aggravated that as well so all in all a HAPPY NEW YEAR! NOT!!!!! Can't stop coughing enough to craft but thought I would come on quickly and say hi and give thanks for my awards

Thank you clare for this super trooper award......I have received this before and am sooooooo lucky to have received it again so thank you!

This is from the lovely Marica Here are the rules for this really sweet award...Pick 5 blogger's that you consider as your best blogging buddies and deserve this award for their contribution towards the blogging community, no matter what language.State the name of the author of each blog as well as a link to each one's blogs. Each blogger (upon acceptance) of this award should do a post and show the award on their blog and put the name and link to the blog that has given her/him the award.... This is a tricky one!!!! but I would like to pass it to Marcia, Tab, Natalie, Teresa and kim all these ladies ( well some are more ladylike than others LOL) really brighten my day when I see they have made a post or left me a comment.

My final award was from the scrumdiddlyumptious Tab she is one clever crafter! Go check out her blog! I need to pick another 5 of my faves to share with you!!!! They are kim (a different kim) Justine , Diane, Clare & Dawny P

Phew.....right more cough mixture and back to bed for me!

First Challenge of 2009 Papertake Weekly

I am trying to get back into the challenge mode and out of Christmas mode! I need quite a few cards for Jan & Feb so will have to get to it! My first challenge of the year is Papertake Weekly and it was to complete a card using this scrumdiddlyumptious sketch from the super talented Dawny P !
To ease me back into non Christmas cards I reached for the trusty Doodlebug and eased my way into the cutting, sticking, stamping and colouring! (well that's all it boils down too... but it sounds a little childish when you say it like that! LOL). I also have to express my concern that I feel a bit left behind using water colouring pencils to colour my images, but I can't seem to get on with copics/promarkers!!! So I suppose I'll have to stick with what I'm comfortable with for the moment and then move on when I have passed my pen phobia!
I have used a Forever Friends stamp and added some DB glitter to the flowers. The papers are all doodlebug as well as the dotty flower, the smaller ones are from my prima stash. They are all secured by a super scrumptious sugar coated doodlebug brad. The greeting is from my stash and the little dots around the pale blue panel are done with......you guessed it Doodlebug glitter!
